Hi! I am Victoria Wilson.

I make art as a transference of energy. Each painting captures a state of being—a distilled emotional moment. I translate fleeting internal landscapes onto the canvas and my hope is that each piece resonates with the viewer’s own emotional memory, bringing presence and joy into the space it occupies.

My inspiration is from life; events big and small… In recent years, my creative focus has become deeply rooted in motherhood—not the idealized version, but the raw, unfiltered reality. My work is born out of the chaos and beauty of raising four young children. The joy and the grief. The tenderness and the frustration. The profound love and the feeling of being utterly stretched. Painting is my processing ground. It’s where I go to make sense of the extremes and contradictions that define this phase of life.

Motherhood has also reconnected me with spontaneity. I often find myself absorbing and channeling the fearless, unselfconscious creativity of my children. There is freedom in their mark-making, and I call on that same liberation in my own. My process is intuitive and physical—working on large canvases spread across the floor, using acrylics, ink, oil pastels, and collage. I move around the work, engaging with it from all angles, immersed and embodied.

Painting has become a ritual—a daily act of return. It’s a practice that steadies me, how I stay connected to myself in a life shaped by care, chaos, and constant motion.

If you like what you see, please drop me a line and come say hello for a studio visit and a cup of tea (or glass of wine…).

Biography

I grew up in Sydney's Eastern suburbs and studied Design and Visual Communication at the University of Technology Sydney. I was selected to go on exchange to one of the greatest design schools in the world, Central Saint Martins in London, which is where my love for travel really began.

From there I spent a year traveling the world before working in London and New York for 7 years. I forged a career as a creative director in the experiential design world with a client base that included Google, Oprah and the NFL Super Bowl. Amongst all that I found time to refine my fine art practice by studying under Frank O’Cain at the Art Students League of New York.

Having had an incredible career, I returned to Sydney in 2018 with a dog, a family and a heart full of inspiration. I now paint out of my studio (converted garage!) in Double Bay where I juggle being a mum and artist. I have sold over 60 works, with collectors in the UK, USA, Singapore and all across Australia. After exhibiting in a number of galleries and design stores over the last five years, you can now find my works here online or at Few & Far’s beautiful designer homewares stores.
