Hi! I'm Victoria Wilson.

Painting is my way of releasing what I carry. It is a physical and intuitive act - a transference of energy, emotion, and experience onto the canvas.

While my inspiration comes from life in all its forms, recent years have been deeply shaped by motherhood - not the idealised version, but the raw, unfiltered reality. The joy and the grief. The tenderness and the frustration. The profound love and the feeling of being stretched in every direction. These experiences find their way into my work, not as literal stories, but as colour, movement, texture, and gesture.

Growing up, there were always flowers in our home - my mum's quiet language of care and beauty. Today, I return to flowers instinctively. They have become the visual language of my work and a starting point for exploring something deeper.

For me, flowers are not delicate things. They are expressive, resilient, and full of life in all its complexity. I don't paint them to be realistic or simply beautiful. Instead, they become energetic, gestural forms - a conduit for emotion, memory, and the beautiful messiness of being human.

My process is intuitive and physical. Working on large canvases spread across the floor, I use acrylics, ink, oil pastels, and collage, moving around the work and engaging with it from all angles. I often find myself drawing on the fearless creativity of my children; their spontaneity, freedom, and complete lack of self-consciousness.

Painting has become a ritual and a daily act of return. It's how I stay connected to myself in a life shaped by care, chaos, and constant motion.

Biography

I grew up in Sydney's Eastern suburbs and studied Design and Visual Communication at the University of Technology Sydney. I was selected to go on exchange to one of the greatest design schools in the world, Central Saint Martins in London, which is where my love for travel really began.

From there I spent a year traveling the world before working in London and New York for 7 years. I forged a career as a creative director in the experiential design world with a client base that included Google, Oprah and the NFL Super Bowl. Amongst all that I found time to refine my fine art practice by studying under Frank O’Cain at the Art Students League of New York.

Having had an incredible career, I returned to Sydney in 2018 with a dog, a family and a heart full of inspiration. I now paint out of my studio (converted garage!) in Double Bay where I juggle being a mum of 4 little people and artist. I have sold over 100 works, with collectors in the UK, USA, Singapore and all across Australia. After exhibiting in a number of galleries and design stores over the last eight years, you can now find my works here online or a selection at Few & Far’s beautiful designer homewares stores.
